Being in care means…

To understand what it means to be in care the group used their own insight to paint a picture of the types of experiences that our character might have to face. They discussed in groups and used spider diagrams to express their opinions.

Some of the key points were:

  • Being away from family for a time
  • Moving around a lot
  • Start of a new life
  • Feeling like you have no control
  • Being accused of stuff
  • Not feeling listened to
  • No privacy
  • Feeling like running away

There were positives and negatives and it really helped the team working with the group understand the gravity and impact of the experience of going in to care, good or bad.
